British Regulator Tightens Verification of VIP Players

The UK Gambling Regulator (UKGC) has been thinking for several months now about how to wean operators from promoting big players as much as possible. In some cases, this leads to sad consequences. After consulting with industry representatives, the UKGC has decided to introduce new rules.

From October 31, operators will be required to carry out checks before a player can receive VIP status. This includes verification of sources of income, type of activity and personality. Plus, regular checks for gambling addiction should be carried out.

The operators were also made responsible for ensuring that the VIP player's expenses were not excessive, given that gambling is a form of entertainment. And in order for the new rules to be taken seriously, operators must have an employee from senior management who will be personally responsible for maintaining order in the VIP segment.
